The Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department (RFD) is dedicated to protecting and serving nearly three-square miles of the Borough of Riverdale, in Morris County, New Jersey.  RFD provides emergency response and prevention to approximately 5,000 residents, as well as thousands of others who work or travel through the area daily. Our primary coverage area encompasses a large portion of  I-287 and Route 23, to also include robust retail and commercial areas.

RFD proudly serves the Borough of Riverdale and provides mutual aid assistance to Butler, Bloomingdale, Pequannock Township, Pompton Lakes, Wanaque and several other municipalities, as requested. RFD maintains a fleet of an Engine, Squad, Ladder, Foam Tender,  Antique Engine and a small boat. All of these apparatus are staffed by dedicated volunteer firefighters.

This mission is underpinned by a vision to be the best community-focused fire department we can be - actively participating in the community, serving as role models, and effectively utilizing resources to provide excellent service. The department also focuses on educating the community on fire prevention and safety techniques. 

The Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to protecting and serving the Borough of Riverdale, its residents, and visitors alike. We also provide fire & rescue, the preservation of life, the protection of property, and the giving of aid to all victims is paramount.
